Stories That Feed: Summer Literacy & Lunch Outreach

July 2025

Summer should be a season of joy—not hunger or falling behind. That’s why ABBA’S TENT is launching Stories That Feed, a literacy and lunch distribution event for children and families in underserved Appalachian communities.

Each child who attends will receive a curated bag filled with age-appropriate books, healthy snacks, and lunch items. We’ll also include spiritual devotionals for young readers—offering both nourishment for the body and inspiration for the soul.

Families are encouraged to stay and take part in live story readings, journaling stations, or prayer circles led by local volunteers. This event reflects our deep belief that every child deserves to be fed—physically, mentally, and spiritually.

Table of Mercy: Spring Renewal Feast

As nature awakens in spring, so too do the spirits of those yearning for a fresh start. During our Table of Mercy outreach, ABBA’S TENT offers generous food boxes filled with fresh and shelf-stable goods, personal hygiene kits, and spiritual resources focused on healing, restoration, and new beginnings.

Inspired by the season of Passover and Resurrection, we extend an open table to families in need—inviting them to experience physical nourishment and a taste of divine renewal.

Harvest of Hope: Back-to-School Blessing

As families prepare for a new school year, ABBA’S TENT is here to ensure no child starts empty-handed. Our Harvest of Hope event provides backpacks filled with school supplies, nutritious food boxes for households, and spiritual encouragement for students and parents alike.

This event is about more than pencils and paper—it’s about restoring confidence, relieving stress, and planting seeds of hope in the next generation. Each family will also receive a prayer card or devotional to start the school year with intention and peace.

Light in the Valley: Winter Warmth Drive

November 2025

When winter settles into the mountains, warmth becomes more than comfort—it becomes a lifeline. Light in the Valley delivers coats, blankets, gloves, socks, non-perishable food boxes, and small lanterns or flashlights to families, seniors, and unhoused individuals facing the cold season.

Grounded in Isaiah 58’s call to “share your food with the hungry… and not turn away from your own flesh and blood,” this event also offers simple winter devotionals to bring light and encouragement into every home and heart.
